Augustana Lutheran has a three year, seventh eighth and ninth grade, confirmation program. The first two years are taught by Jeff Fitzkappes, Augustana's Director of Youth & Education. The discussions center on the Old Testament and go into creation, Adam & Eve, Abraham, the nature of God, the 10 commandments, scripture memorization and basic questions of belief. The third year is taught by Pastor Paul. The ninth graders read the Gospel of Mark, study the Small Catechism and write personal statements of faith that are read aloud during their confirmation service. This service is always held the first Sunday in May.

Each summer the students who will be going into the ninth grade attend a Houseboat Trip with Pastor Paul and Jeff on Lake Vermilion. More information about that trip is mailed directly to the confirmation students.
