“As a community of women, created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our calling, engage in ministry and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world.”
WELCA – WOMEN OF AUGUSTANA
As a member of Augustana Lutheran, all women are members of the Women of the ELCA. Our most regular and organized activities are our monthly circles (bible study groups) and the sewing group (quilt making) that meet on Thursdays.
The Thank Offering Project, Lutheran World Relief and our own St. Lucia Celebration are WELCA activities that are embraced by the entire congregation and that benefit mission work doemstically and abroad. Many men, women, and children become involved in these projects.
WELCA will have two Unit meetings per year. At Unit meetings the business of WELCA is conducted along with a fellowship and of course, coffee.
All women are encouraged to join us for any or all of these occasions! These activities are intended, as our purpose says, to help us grow in faith, to strenthen our support for one another and to support mission work in our CHURCH, our COMMUNITY, and the WORLD.
